My Most Anticipated Reads of 2020

Good morning, wherever you may be, and happy New Year’s Eve! With a brand-new decade looming, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want from myself this year and the things I’m looking forward to. I have never been a “new year, new me” type of gal, but something about 2020 gives me such a good feeling – I’m excited to see myself grow, and to see where the new year takes me and what it brings to my life.

Something else that I’m especially looking forward to is all the books set to be published this year. I’m upping my personal reading goal in 2020, and I’m excited to make reading a priority in my life again, because it has always been one of my first true loves. If you’re curious about my most-anticipated releases of 2020, keep on reading!

  1. “The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue” by V.E. Schwab

This has been on my TBR list for what seems like ages. If you know me, you know that I’m a huge fan of Victoria Schwab, both her person and her works, so I’m going to read anything she throws at me. As soon as preorders open, I’m all over it. It’s an adult standalone novel, and although a publication date has not been announced, Goodreads tell me 2020, and who am I to argue?

Schwab describes “The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue” as the story of a French girl who makes a deal with the devil to live forever, but she’s cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets, until one day 300 years later, she meets a boy who remembers her name. Honestly, this sounds right up my alley, and I. Cannot. Wait.

  1. Book 2 of the Dreamer Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater

I devoured “Call Down the Hawk” within hours of receiving it, so it’s no surprise that I’m anxiously awaiting the second book (and its title) in what is being referred to as a “Ronan-centered trilogy” by the author. Sold, Maggie, you had me at Ronan. I won’t give you a blurb since it’s a sequel, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but the anticipated release date is November 2020. Until then, catch me rereading “The Raven Cycle” and “Call Down the Hawk” until I have new Ronan content to cry over.

  1. Book 2 of the Nikolai Duology by Leigh Bardugo

Another sequel that is currently untitled, but one that I couldn’t be more excited for. I fell in love with Nikolai Lantsov while reading the “Shadow and Bone” trilogy, so I can’t wait to continue his story in this duology.

**Technically, at the time of writing, this isn’t an “official” 2020 release.** The publication date has not been announced, but the bookish community seems to think it’ll be sometime in 2020. I’m joining these wishful thinkers in solidarity while making  “King of Scars” a priority in my January TBR.

I’ll be honest when I say that while I try to keep up with upcoming releases, some of them fall through the cracks. I’m sure there are a few that I’ve forgotten, but these are the top three that I can’t wait to get my hands on in the new year. If I missed your favorites, or you want to share your most anticipated books of 2020, drop me a comment, I welcome book recs always! I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, and in the meantime, happy reading!
