20 Questions Book Tag

Happy Sunday! I hope you had a wonderful and restful weekend. Where I am, the weekend is pretty much over, but I still wanted to post a little something, and since I don’t have any reviews prepared I thought I would do a book tag! I wanted to do something fun and easy, and in my search I discovered the 20 Questions Book Tag. I’m not 100% sure where the tag originated, so if anyone knows, please share and I’ll credit the creator! I wasn’t tagged by anyone, but I don’t think that you have to wait to be tagged to participate in something fun, so we’re going to jump right into it!

1. How Many Books Is Too Many for a Series:

For me, it depends on how well-written it is and how much I’m enjoying a series, but I do prefer to read trilogies or four-book series, whatever you call those.

2. How Do You Feel About Cliffhangers:

I loathe them, even if they’re done well. ESPECIALLY when there’s a wait in between books or I don’t own the next book in the series, because then it’s all I can think about for days. OOOH, or if it’s a stand-alone with a “cliffhanger” or “open to interpretation” ending. Biggest bookish pet peeve.

3. Hardback or Paperback:

Paperback for reading, for sure. I love the way hardbacks look on a shelf, though, so both?

4. Favorite Book:

I knew this question would come up, and I knew I’d be unprepared! I feel like I have different favorites for different situations and times in my life, but if I HAD to pick an all-time favorite, it would be The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. That book will forever hold a special place in my heart.

5. Least Favorite Book:

Oooooh…. um… good one. I can’t remember a book that I disliked so much that I would refer to it as my least favorite book. I tend to throw a wall of praise at books I love, and ones I don’t… meh.

6. Love Triangles, Yes or No:

When I was younger, I loved them. But, as I get older, I find that I prefer less complicated relationships. Maybe it’s the old married lady in me, I dunno. Plus, usually the couple I’m rooting for in a love triangle NEVER works out, so maybe I’m just bitter.

7. The Most Recent Book You Just Couldn’t Finish:

It’s been a long long time since I’ve DNF’d a book! Probably Clariel by Garth Nix, which was so sad for me at the time because I love his Abhorsen series with everything in me.

8. What Book Are You Currently Reading:

I am currently reading four books *sweats nervously*: The Dark Vault by Victoria Schwab, King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo, The Fever King by Victoria Lee, and (watch me contradict myself) the audiobook of Clariel by Garth Nix. I’m hoping that the audiobook will finally get me through this book, because I want to love it, damn it!

9. Last Book You Recommended to Someone:

Most of my days revolve around recommending books to people around me, but most recently I recommended Victoria Schwab’s Vicious to a coworker.

10. Oldest Book You’ve Read:

Probably something for college that I don’t care to research further. Sorry.

11. Newest Book You’ve Read:

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, I thiiiiiink. I’m hardly ever current with my reading, but I’m trying to be better!

12. Favorite Author:

Victoria Schwab, for sure. I love her writing so much, and I’ve yet to read a book of hers that I dislike. I’m constantly recommending her to everyone who asks for book recs.

13. Buying Books or Borrowing:

I used to have to own every book that caught my interest, but the older I get, the less stuff I want to have, so I tend to borrow unless it’s a book that I absolutely love.

14. A Book You Dislike That Everyone Else Seems to Love:

Yikes, these questions are kind of hard. I can’t think of any right off the top of my head…

15. Bookmarks or Dog-ears:

Oh, bookmarks for sure! I tend to baby all of my books, so my bookmark collection is… extensive.

16. A Book You’ll Always Reread:

Harry Potter, always, I’ll never get tired of them. More recently, The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater weaseled it’s way into my heart, and I’ve reread them twice all since discovering them last November.

17. Can You Read Whilst Listening to Music:

Sometimes! I tend to tune the entire world out when I’m reading, so if music is playing, it’s not a distraction or anything.

18. One POV or Multiple POVs:

I’m a big fan of multiple POVs in the third person, but I’ve read some great books from the POV of just one character, so both!

19. Do You Read a Book in One Sitting or Over Multiple Days:

It depends on my mood and how much I’m enjoying the book! I have been known to finish books in one sitting, and it’s also taken me six months to finish some.

20. A Book You Read Because Of The Cover:

Probably Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I dunno, something about that cover just really makes my soul sing. Will I ever finish the series? Maybe not, but they’re so beautiful that I’ll absolutely gaze at them forever.

This was so much fun! I love book tags, it’s a fun way to reflect on my reading habits and in general just bookish fun! If this is something you want to do, go for it! I tag anyone who is reading this and interested in answering 20 bookish questions. 🙂 until next time!
